H.M. Queen Margrethe visits Rome October 24-25 2025

On the occasion of the 10th anniversary of Queen Margrethe's Roman Prize, H.M. Queen Margrethe will visit Rome and participate in the award ceremony on October 24 at the Danish Institute for Science and Art in Rome. On October 25, Queen Margrethe will take part in a program focusing on archaeology, art history and architecture.

Queen Margrethe's Roman Prize was established in 2015 by the Carlsberg Foundation on the occasion of Queen Margrethe’s 75th birthday and is awarded annually to a person, group, or institution that has made a special contribution within culture, science or communication related to Italy. The prize builds on the tradition behind Princess Margrethe’s Grant (established in 1958) and marks Queen Margrethe’s longstanding commitment to culture and science - especially in relation to Rome and Italy.

Queen Margrethe has since 2011 been the patron of the Institute for Science and Art in Rome and most recently visited the Institute and Rome in 2017 in connection with the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Institute's building, which was inaugurated in 1967 by Frederik IX and Queen Ingrid.

The program for Queen Margrethe’s visit to Rome will be announced later.
