New rules for entry to the Faroe islands and Greenland for third-country nationals

If you are a third-country national and hold a residence permit in Denmark or another Schengen country, you can now travel to the Faroe Islands and Greenland on the basis of your residence permit.

This means that you:

  • no longer need a visa to travel to the Faroe Islands or Greenland if your residence permit has been issued by a Schengen country other than Denmark.
  • no longer need an entry permit if you travel from Denmark to the Faroe Islands or Greenland.

When travelling to the Faroe Islands or Greenland, you must bring:

  • your residence permit (physical residence card), and
  • valid travel documentation.
